Construction management focuses on the coordination and oversight required in the planning, budgeting, designing, and building of a project, from start to finish. Because of the many components in this work, there is great diversity in the type and scale of projects commissioned.
As a construction management major, you will learn skills to effectively lead construction projects, including managerial and leadership, decision-making, creative and critical thinking, time management and organization, technical, negotiation, and communication. Construction managers are often referred to as general contractors, project managers, or construction superintendents. Additional careers can include facilities manager, building surveyor, planning and development surveyor, and sustainability consultant.
