Essy Marie Froste

Transferred from: Miami Dade College
Major: Psychology with a Minor in Education

What I love about FIU:

I love the diversity as well as the campus itself.

My transfer tip:

Take things one day at a time and discover the kind of person you are meant to be using your abilities and strengths.

Christopher Leon

Transferred from: Miami Dade College
Major: Political Science with a Pre-Law Skills & Profession Values Certificate

What I love about FIU:

I love that I can be a 31-year-old man with wife and children, but still feel like I fit in with students. I have been treated as an equal and subsequently, been approached on numerous occasions by my classmates for advice on issues. This has shown me that things aren’t always as they seem and one must see beyond the veil to truly see the people that you have around.

My transfer tip:

Have an open mind. You’re here to learn, and above all, come with your sense of adventure. FIU is the biggest adventure, and it is the best thing that has happened to me. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world.

Camila Noemi Munoz

Transferred from: Palm Beach State College
Major: Psychology with a Minor in Art

What I love about FIU:

I love the culture and the diversity.

My transfer tip:

One thing I wish I knew before transferring to FIU is how much time you really need to study and complete assignments; it definitely requires more dedication.

Ambermarie Peynado

Transferred from: Palm Beach State College
Major: Early Childhood Education with a Developmental Track

What I love about FIU:

Our school spirit! I love how FIU immediately welcomes their students from their first experience at Orientation.  I love that University President Rosenberg treats everyone with respect and that he is down to Earth.  He never makes me feel like I am not a part of student body.

My transfer tip:

Get involved! Many times we come here to this bug University and feel so alone.  Getting involved and meeting new people makes the transition so much easier.  Find your passion areas and join different clubs and organizations that go with your passion areas!

Brianna Rawls

Transferred from: Miami Dade College
Major: Political Science with a Minor in International Relations, Honors College

What I love about FIU:

I love all the opportunists and resources the university has to offer.

My transfer tip:

Stay organized, choose a few organizations you want to join and balance your school work and extracurricular activities.

Aria Rosani Tsiomakidis

Transferred from: Miami Dade College
Major: Fine Arts with a Graphic Design Track and a Minor in Art History

What I love about FIU:

By far my favorite thing would have to be all the fun places to eat and study around campus.

My transfer tip:

I wish I knew before transferring that parking really does take up a chunk of your time. So, plan your schedule wisely so you don’t show up late for class!
