It’s Never Too Late.
Whether you are an adult learner returning to college after a long pause, served in the military and ready to pursue your educational goals, or looking to gain new knowledge and skills, we welcome you to FIU!
To better understand how your credits transfer, review your “student type” below. Adult learners can fall into more than one type, so review all that apply.
All students must satisfy FIU’s University Core Curriculum (UCC). The UCC comprises General Education courses that serve as the foundation to any undergraduate degree. If you are an adult learner still pending UCC requirements, you may satisfy these by enrolling in FIU courses or considering Credit-by-Exam or ACE Evaluated Courses. Meet with an academic advisor to review options prior to enrollment.
Credit for Prior Learning
The programs below give students an opportunity to demonstrate prior learning via portfolio assessment. The portfolio documents learning that has taken place outside the traditional classroom setting, such as workforce training, certifications, licensures, and military training or occupation. Completing a portfolio is more economical than the cost of tuition and can accelerate degree completion.
Discuss any prior learning experiences with your academic advisor or Transfer & Transition Services staff member to determine if these may be transferable as college credit.
