Transfer Ready is the Name of the Game.

When we asked students how we could improve their transition to FIU, they said: “Tell us what courses we need to take for our major before we transfer, and keep it simple!” We delivered.

Our goal with these guides is to make you transfer ready! This means selecting your major early and completing prerequisites before you transfer. Being transfer ready saves you money and time, and it allows you to enroll in upper-division courses as soon as you transfer. We give that a #PawsUp!

Any Student Can Use These Guides.

There is a Transfer Guide for every major at FIU, each including a table listing prerequisites. Although the guides were developed for students from local and regional public colleges, all transfers can benefit from this information. Here’s how.

  • If you’re transferring from a Florida public college or university, you’re in luck, because we work on a statewide course numbering system. This means that the prefixes and numbers of the prerequisites should be identical or near-identical to courses at your institution.
  • If you’re attending a private institution, out of state institution, or international institution, we recommend using the titles of the prerequisites as an initial reference.
  • Meet with your college advisor for further guidance and course selection.
  • Check TED to see transfer rules from your institution.
