Transfers Helping Transfers,
It’s a Beautiful Thing.
The Transfer2Transfer Mentor Collective pairs current FIU transfer students (mentors) with new transfer students (mentees) to make transitioning to FIU a little easier. Mentors offer “just in time” support to new transfers during their first term. Whether it’s helping students navigate campus, find their assigned advisor, or recommend campus resources, ambassadors have the answers! Sure, students can find this information online, but where’s the fun in that? A seasoned pro is what we’re talking about! #PawsUp
Matching Process
Transfer Mentors and Mentees complete a survey detailing their backgrounds, experiences, and hopes for a counterpart. Mentor Collective matches based on what Mentees say is most important to them.
Time Commitment
Mentors attend a few hours of training that includes program information, expectations, and evaluation. Transfer2Transfer is designed to meet the flexible needs of our new students, so many of the mentor-mentee interactions are facilitated through group messaging. Once matched, you will both decide how you want to connect: text, email, video call, or in-person.We recommend you connect with your Transfer Mentee at least once per month.
Program Timeline
This mentorship program will end in April 2025, but you’re more than welcome to stay connected with your mentee after the official end of the program.
Be a Transfer Mentor
Develop your leadership, communication, and personal skills as you support new students' transition to FIU. Empower new Transfer Panthers with your knowledge and insights and engage in an extra-curricular activity that is valued by employers. We are looking for engaging, supportive, and reliable mentors. Be a Transfer Mentee
Jumpstart your learning by meeting peers who have successfully navigated their transition to FIU. Being a mentee is a great way to gain practical advice and support, increase your academic and social confidence, and become more empowered to achieving your goals – all while making new friends and enjoying your time as a Transfer Panther.
